Unless you’ve been deliberately ignoring us for the past week, you probably already know we’re having two jewelry trunk shows this weekend–Lizzie Fortunato at The Hive and Twine & Twig at The Shoe Hive. We won’t go over all that again. If you’re not sure what we’re talking about, you can read about it here. So for now we’ll keep it short and sweet and just point out a few pieces available this weekend only. Here are our Staff Picks.
Yesterday, we showed you how we would style a few of our favorite Lizzie Fortunato pieces leading up to this weekend’s trunk show. Today, we want to do the same but with Twine and Twig. Whereas for Lizzie it all came down to matching, Twine and Twig is all about the layers!
In this first look, we took the layering idea literally…but Twine and Twig makes it easy. Many of their pieces are already made up of multiple strands–both necklaces and bracelets. We doubled up on both to get this boho-chic casual summer look perfect for an outdoor barbecue.
If layering doesn’t come naturally to you, consider getting one of Twine and Twig’s collar necklaces. They make a strong statement with rows of shells and beads just like a layered look does but they take the work out of it. We complemented the collar necklace with a neutral but textured blouse in a lightweight cotton for warmer days.
Whether you’re looking for a classic horsehair tail necklace or one of the brand’s newest layered necklaces, the selection at The Shoe Hive is extensive! Plus, all Twine and Twig (including their new scarves!) are 20% off as part of the trunk show that starts on Friday.
The great thing about jewelry–especially as compared to clothing–is that there is no right or wrong way to wear it. Whether you like delicate pieces on their own or pile on the statements, it all comes down to self-expression. So, think of these as suggestions but know that we want to see you create your personal spin on how to wear Lizzie Fortunato jewelry!
In styling some of the pieces we have at the store, we realized that we are very much into the matchy-matchy look when it comes to the twin sisters’ designs.
In the first look, we’ve matched one of the colors in the feathered earrings to the model’s ruffled Ulla Johnson dress. Doing this brings intention to a look that is otherwise simple in its composition–dress and earrings.
In this second look, we’ve matched the earrings to the necklace. Only a few years ago, we would have told you to shy away from sets of jewelry. But when individual pieces do such a great job of holding their own, it makes an even greater style statement when they are worn together!
What pieces are you looking forward to trying on during this weekend’s Lizzie Fortunato trunk show at The Hive? How will you style them? Don’t forget: all Lizzie Fortunato designs (including bags and other accessories) will be 20% off as part of the event from Friday through Sunday.
Did you know that sisters are at the helm of both Lizzie Fortunato and Twine & Twig? It’s true!
Twin sisters Lizzie and Kathryn Fortunato founded Lizzie Fortunato in 2008 with the intent of creating unique accessories that use unexpected materials and champion handicrafts from a breadth of places and cultures. Lizzie designs the line, while Kathryn, who got her start on Wall Street, oversees sales and operations.
A love of the rustic outdoors, combined with a great appreciation for the casual calm offered by the North Carolina coast, inspired sisters Elizabeth Stafford White and Jacquelyn Stafford Buckner, to begin designing jewelry. From there, the sisters collaborated on the launch of Twine & Twig in late 2013, creating a line of jewelry that reflects both designers’ love for natural, organic beauty, as well as their southern roots and extensive worldly travels.
We consider ourselves lucky to work with such talented young women who believe in both the importance of family and fashion. In celebration of spring and of sisters, we are hosting a double trunk show this coming weekend. You’ll find a special and expanded trunk-show-only selection of jewelry and other accessories by Lizzie Fortunato at The Hive and by Twine & Twig at The Shoe Hive. All designs by the two brands will be 20% off from Friday to Sunday only.
And since we’re recognizing the importance of family, it is perhaps good timing to note you might consider this your chance to get a head start on Mothers Day shopping!
Do you find yourself purchasing scarves and then never wearing them because you don’t know how to tie them? Are you perplexed by the idea of a spring scarf altogether? Well, we are here to answer all of your scarf-related questions and to provide scarf solutions! This Thursday, March 30th from 7-9PM, we will host blogger and author Lauren Friedman of “50 Ways to Wear a Scarf” for a special scarf-tying event.
Bring in your own trouble scarf for ideas on how to wear it or find a new one to wear at The Hive! Lauren will walk us through a handful of her favorite scarf-tying tips, too. The event is limited to the first twenty-five to sign up. You can RSVP here. The event is free of charge as long as you sign up in advance. (Side note: Lauren’s brief presentation will start at 7:20-ish so please don’t be too late if you sign up.)
For this event, we’ve brought in a limited selection of scarves by Yarnz, Piccolo and Janavi and all of them will be marked down 20% for event participants. Booze, bites, and lots of fun–we hope you’ll join us!
Some things just never get old, and somehow Annabel Ingall turns out new and equally beautiful bags every season. It doesn’t matter that we’ve carried the brand for years, we’re still excited by what they’re offering! This spring, The Shoe Hive is teaming up with the designer behind our bestselling bag for this week’s trunk show.
All weekend long you’ll get 20 percent off all Annabel Ingall purchases, whether you leave with a bag in hand or place an order for one to arrive in the future. We received the list of product the company was sending us for the special event and it is three pages long! But even if that’s not enough you can still get anything you see on their website at the discounted price. (Hint: this is a great time to shop for Mother’s Day!)
When it comes to handbags, it doesn’t get better than Annabel Ingall; her bags are classic but interesting, durable but feminine. Elizabeth, Christen, and Madeline all three carry her bags regularly and it’s just a matter of time before the rest of the team does, too!

This will be our third annual Gigi New York trunk show leading up to the holidays and each year it just gets bigger and better. What hasn’t changed is how popular this event is–easily one of our top five! As we’ve done in the past, we are offering 20% off all Gigi products, on-site monogramming and a special selection of styles unique to the trunk show. That means whatever doesn’t sell goes back on Monday! Plus, if you don’t see what you’re looking for we can easily special order anything in time for the holidays. We hope to see you soon!
