New Jewelry, Part Two: Diane Cotton at The Shoe Hive

We are actively working to up our jewelry game in 2017. Toward this effort, we introduced you yesterday to Mignonne Gavigan scarf necklaces carried at The Hive. But at The Shoe Hive, we have stocked our case with Diane Cotton’s designs.

Diane Cotton has created elegant jewelry out of her Newport Beach studio since 2000. Her eponymous line, known for its long, beaded necklaces with tassels and other vintage components, got its start on a whim. At the time, Cotton was on her final sales call as a rep for Ralph Lauren jewelry when the customer rejected the entire line. Not wanting to end on a sour note, she pulled her own designs from her bag and sold them on the spot.

We encountered Diane Cotton’s designs entirely by accident ourselves. On a recent trip to New York, we paid a visit to a showroom in hopes of finding a new scarf line. We not only discovered beautiful new scarves (which should arrive end of February) but we left with a bag of Diane Cotton’s jewelry to sell! The pieces we brought to The Shoe Hive include a variety of styles and lengths, and incorporated everything from Ethiopian glass beads, vintage Afghan tassels, and Chinese carved glass to brass, mother of pearl, onyx, and turquoise. We hope you love Cotton’s necklaces as much as we do!
