If you crossed Sam Edelman on the sidewalk, you might not recognize him as Sam Edelman but you would know without a doubt that you had just come upon someone important. Despite being a retail and fashion genius, he is never less than impeccably dressed, is typically followed by his pup and always has a kind word for those around him. In 2014, we had the chance to meet him at market and Blair was with us. Mr. Edelman graciously took a photo with her and loved having her in his studio. We haven’t yet had the chance to meet his wife and business partner, but we can only imagine that she is equally as impressive in person.
Footwear News (aka the shoe industry bible) recently inducted both Sam and Libby into the Hall of Fame. The Edelman business duo operates as inseparable equals, running their rapidly expanding company like a growing family. In recognition of their many accomplishments, earlier this month the power couple received their FN Hall of Fame award (prior inductees include Salvatore Ferragamo, Roger Vivier and Manolo Blahnik), presented to them by their son, Jesse Edelman.
From the famous Sam&Libby ‘bow ballet’ during the reign of their first, eponymous label in 1987 all the way to the #SamsGirls favorites of today, we couldn’t think of more deserving hall-of-famers.
Most of you already know that we contribute to Alexandria Stylebook‘s blog, but did you know that we also contribute to The Scout Guide Alexandria’s blog, too? Today, the Editor (and our friend), Alison Teer, published a piece we put together on The Bling Bang–all of the sparkle you need this holiday season.
A few weeks ago, we featured all of our in-season luxury hats and gloves. For additional product updates and content contributions to The Scout Guide, follow the blog here or sign up to get it straight to your inbox!
To say we were hesitant to bring on Freda Salvador is an understatement. But when Alexandria stylist Kathryn Martin tells you to explore a designer you take her advice without questioning it. Of course, we loved Freda Salvador’s menswear-inspired styles but we weren’t certain that they would sell. Were our customers ready for croc-embossed laceless oxfords and woven loafers? We brought on just one style this past fall, and it turns out our customers love Freda Salvador as much as we do! We couldn’t keep that style in stock, so we have ordered several new ones to meet demand. Here are the three that just arrived yesterday. Many of them are already on hold for customers who pre-ordered their size so stop in soon to try yours on!
Why surprise? Well, because we hadn’t actually planned on having a trunk show in December.
Our trunk show series is typically in November, but there are only so many weekends between the 1st and the 30th. We couldn’t fit Heather Benjamin in then but felt her designs were worthy of her own weekend-long spotlight before the holidays.
Dozens of new pieces arrived just this morning and we are busy tagging and displaying them in time for the trunk show to start tomorrow. All styles (new and in-store) will be 20% off Friday through Sunday only. Take advantage of the brief sale to finish (or start!) your holiday shopping.
Here’s a sneak peek of some of our favorite trunk show styles:
We are so excited to announce our newest (and affordable!) jewelry line, Inzuki Designs. Inzuki is a dynamic young Rwandan brand specializing in jewelry and accessories that are handmade using local materials. A fusion of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary style, the company works with a handful of local artisans to bring their creations to life.
Inzuki Designs was created by Teta Isibo (pictured below) out of a combined passion for design, style and everything Rwandan. It started out as a hobby as she crafted personalized jewelry inspired by already existing products from the Rwandan crafts market. In 2010 Inzuki designs officially evolved into a business entity. It has since grown into a well-loved Rwandan brand with a boutique located in the Heart of Kigali City.
The necklaces and chokers are unlike anything else we’ve ever carried at The Shoe Hive. We are already dreaming up the innumerable ways we are going to wear them!
And we kind of love how similar their bags are to ours. A match made in accessory heaven!
